Trump Says U.S. Will Destroy A Bridge Or Power Plant For Each Iranian Attack In The Strait Of Hormuz

HuffPost · 3 hours ago

US President Donald Trump has warned that America will destroy one Iranian bridge or power plant for every attack Iran carries out on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, escalating his threats against civilian infrastructure as the war with Iran continues without a clear end in sight. The conflict is causing widespread economic disruption, pushing up fuel prices ahead of the US midterm elections, and both sides have increasingly targeted civilian infrastructure for leverage as negotiations remain stalled, drawing UN criticism.

The Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of the world's traded oil and gas normally passes, remains largely closed due to Iranian attacks, while Iran-backed Houthi rebels have separately threatened Saudi shipping in the Red Sea. The US carried out fresh strikes on Iran overnight, Iran fired missiles and drones at Jordan's city of Aqaba (mostly intercepted), and US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told a Senate hearing the war has cost America $37.5 billion so far, with Brent crude rising to around $94 a barrel. Trump was due at Dover Air Force Base to receive the remains of four US service members killed in the conflict.
