## Key points

- House passes measure limiting Trump’s Iran war powers.
- Four Republicans joined Democrats in the 214–208 vote.
- Resolution still faces obstacles before taking effect.

## Summary

The US House of Representatives passed a war powers resolution aimed at limiting President Trump’s ability to continue military action against Iran. The vote was a significant political setback because four Republicans broke with their party leadership and joined Democrats, showing bipartisan concern over presidential authority and the conflict.

The resolution passed 214–208 and would direct the administration to end US hostilities with Iran. It does not by itself guarantee an immediate end to military action, as it faces further congressional and procedural hurdles, but it places public pressure on the White House and highlights divisions within the Republican Party.
