## Key points

- Trump says more personnel changes may follow.
- Susie Wiles is leaving as chief of staff.
- Stephen Miller is set to replace her.

## Summary

Donald Trump said he may make further changes to his team after Republicans suffered major midterm losses, then announced that chief of staff Susie Wiles was leaving her post. He appointed deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller to replace her, in a shake-up that could signal a shift in influence within the White House.

In a 60 Minutes interview recorded before Wiles’s departure, Trump said he expected to let people go but would not identify them; he indicated he had confidence in defence secretary Pete Hegseth. Trump said Wiles had done a good job and denied her exit was because of the election, while a senior White House official said she had resigned. Reports described growing factional tensions among aides, and Trump said Wiles would move to his political operation.
