US President Donald Trump has arrived in Ireland for a two-day visit, one of the largest security operations in the country's history. He will hold a courtesy call with Irish President Catherine Connolly and a bilateral meeting with Taoiseach Micheál Martin, before attending the Amgen Irish Open golf tournament at his own Doonbeg resort in County Clare, a trip he has said he is keen to make to watch players including Rory McIlroy.

Trump landed at Dublin Airport on Saturday morning, greeted by Tánaiste Simon Harris and Foreign Minister Helen McEntee, having flown from Joint Base Andrews the previous night; this is his third visit to the Republic, after trips in 2019 and 2023. He will also attend events at the US Ambassador's residence in Phoenix Park, and is expected to be joined in Doonbeg by his sons Eric and Donald Trump Jr. Thousands of protesters are expected in Dublin and Doonbeg, though Trump is not scheduled to be near the US Embassy, where barriers have been erected. President Connolly, a critic of Trump on Gaza and tariffs, faces pressure from Sinn Féin and other parties to raise Middle East issues during their brief meeting.
