The service matters because it was launched after access to the White House was withdrawn from Politico, CNN and MS Now, intensifying concerns about official media control.

Trump TV, also branded “The Essentials Station”, streams official events, announcements and selected past moments continuously, with the administration presenting it as a central source of presidential coverage. The New York Times described it as resembling state television, while the absence of the usual television pool has exposed limitations in the service’s production quality. On one recent occasion, other networks declined to replace CNN, leaving no television pool during Trump’s visit to New York.
