## Key points

- Trump insulted a reporter who questioned his cancelled Kansas trip.
- He said he felt well and would campaign remotely.
- A poll showed Roger Marshall trailing by four points.

## Summary

Donald Trump criticised a Reuters reporter’s appearance after being asked whether he had cancelled a Kansas rally because he was tired or unwell. Trump said he felt “perfect” and explained that he did not feel he needed to travel to Kansas, opting to hold a tele-rally instead.

The planned event was meant to support Republican Senator Roger Marshall, who is facing Democrat Adam Hamilton in a close race. A CNN/SSRS poll put Marshall four points behind, at 45 per cent to Hamilton’s 49 per cent. Trump also cancelled a planned rally in Iowa and was continuing a heavy campaign schedule ahead of the midterm elections.
