Trump’s Patriot Games Bomb in Ratings

Consequence · 3 hours ago

A ratings tracker reports that Donald Trump's "Patriot Games" event, staged by the White House as part of the "Freedom 250" celebrations, drew a poor television audience on ABC. The broadcast pulled in just 1.21 million viewers, fewer than the network's usual audience for a repeat episode of the decades-old game show that normally occupies the same time slot, raising questions about public appetite for the administration's promotional programming.

The event, which also included a chaotically run "Great American State Fair", featured ESPN executives and broadcaster Pat McAfee seated alongside Trump, but ABC aired only edited highlights, broadcast two days after the event concluded on 13th August. By comparison, a new episode of "Press Your Luck" on 6th August attracted 2.86 million viewers, while even a July 2025 repeat drew 2.161 million, meaning the Patriot Games broadcast underperformed a decades-old game show rerun.

  • Trump's "Patriot Games" broadcast drew just 1.21 million ABC viewers
  • Ratings were lower than reruns of 43-year-old show "Press Your Luck"
  • ABC aired only delayed highlights, two days after the event ended
