Twenty-seven people were left stranded roughly 50ft in the air on the Wipeout rollercoaster at Pleasurewood Hills theme park in Lowestoft, Suffolk, after the ride broke down. The incident, which began just before 1.30pm, prompted a lengthy rescue operation lasting more than three hours, highlighting the safety risks and logistical challenges involved when amusement rides fail with passengers still aboard.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service sent crews from three stations to the scene, using advanced rescue-at-height equipment to bring passengers down from carriages stopped around 15 metres up, though not upside down. Wipeout, the UK's only Vekoma Boomerang coaster, opened in 2007 and recently underwent a £1 million refurbishment in 2024/25 that added new safety features; the ride also broke down in 2017, when a man was freed by fire crews using a cherrypicker after heavy rain caused a stoppage.
