Two staff members at a nursing home in Adelaide were taken to hospital following an alleged altercation involving a weapon on Friday morning. Emergency services were called to St Hilarion's Residential Care and Nursing Home just after 9:30am after reports that a male volunteer in his 80s had assaulted a female staff member in her 60s. Importantly, no residents were injured or threatened during the incident, and investigations are ongoing.

The woman sustained upper body injuries, including what was described as a "difficult airway," but these are not considered life-threatening according to South Australia Police. The man was also hospitalised for treatment of self-inflicted injuries, also assessed as non-life-threatening. Both individuals received medical care following the altercation, and the incident remains under investigation.
