Two men have died after falling into a large silage tank while working at a farm in Aston by Budworth, near Northwich, Cheshire. Emergency services mounted a rescue operation, but both men were recovered and pronounced dead at the scene; police have begun an investigation.

The incident was reported at about 12.20pm on Wednesday as an industrial accident. Firefighters, police, paramedics and an air ambulance attended, while nearby Cann Lane was closed to support the response. The men were aged 72 and 42, and their next of kin have been informed.
