Tyla Now Has Twice as Many U.S. Afrobeats Songs No. 1s as Any Other Artist on the Chart, Thanks to ‘Is It Love’
Tyla has reinforced her commanding position on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart with her fourth number-one single, 'Is It Love.' The track climbed to the top spot on the July 4 chart from No. 25 in a single tracking cycle, extending her lead over the chart's second-place artist, who holds only two number-one entries. Her previous chart dominators—'Water' (55 weeks), 'Push 2 Start' (20 weeks), and 'Chanel' (24 weeks)—established the foundation for this streak since the chart's April 2022 launch.
Streaming activity propelled 'Is It Love' to the summit, with roughly 2 million streams representing the majority of its chart impact during the tracking period. The song has demonstrated broader commercial reach, debuting at No. 18 on the Hot R&B Songs chart and entering the U.K.'s Official Afrobeats Chart at No. 3. Both 'Is It Love' and 'Chanel' appear on Tyla's second studio album, 'A*Pop,' arriving July 24, her follow-up to her self-titled debut which spent five weeks atop the World Albums chart.
