U.S. Attacks Bridges, Collapses Tower At Key Port As Iran Campaign Expands

HuffPost · 1 month ago

The United States and Iran exchanged further strikes targeting infrastructure and military sites as fighting over the Strait of Hormuz intensified. Washington said it had struck Iranian surveillance, logistics, weapons-storage and maritime facilities, while Iran targeted the wider Gulf region; the conflict’s focus on the strait has disrupted shipping and pushed up oil prices.

US attacks reportedly damaged road and railway bridges near Bandar Khamir in southern Iran, potentially affecting links to Bandar Abbas, the country’s main port. Iran said recent US strikes had killed at least 46 people and wounded more than 400, while the US reported 13 additional injured service members; since the war began, 14 US personnel have been killed and 427 wounded. Iran has effectively closed the strait to shipping since 28 February, with oil rising above $86 a barrel as crossings fell to a three-week low.
