U2 Cover the Pogues’ “Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah”
U2 have released a cover of the Pogues’ 1988 single “Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah” as part of an upcoming tribute album to Shane MacGowan. The Edge described MacGowan as a figure defined by contradictions, arguing that his distinctive persona connected Irish pub storytelling with punk performance.
The song appears on 20th Century Paddy: The Songs of Shane MacGowan, due out on 13 November through Rubyworks. Other contributors to the album include Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Primal Scream, Steve Earle and Dropkick Murphys.
