UCF Knights salute Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs with slick new Space U uniforms
UCF has unveiled its tenth annual space-themed football uniform, called “Mission X”, honouring NASA’s Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programmes. The design ties the university’s history to the Space Race era and its longstanding links with nearby Kennedy Space Center.
Details include black jersey stitching inspired by Mercury suits, blue and red cuffs recalling Gemini suits, mission-style shoulder patches and a Gemini X-inspired Space Game patch. The trousers feature the former Citronaut mascot and Apollo-inspired stripes, while the helmets have a red stripe modelled on those worn by Apollo commanders; the uniforms are due to debut on 30 October against Baylor.
