McGregor to fight Holloway at UFC 329 in first bout since 2021
Conor McGregor returns to the UFC octagon for the first time in five years to face Max Holloway in a welterweight rematch at UFC 329 in Las Vegas, headlining a card on Sunday 12 July. The bout revives a rivalry dating back to 2013, when McGregor beat Holloway on points as a featherweight, and marks a significant comeback for the Irishman, who last fought in July 2021 when he broke his leg in a defeat by Dustin Poirier.
No title is at stake, and McGregor is currently unranked owing to his long absence, while Holloway is ranked fourth at lightweight but is stepping up to make his welterweight debut. The main card at the T-Mobile Arena is expected to begin at 02:00 BST, with the headline ringwalks around 04:30 BST. Britons Paddy Pimblett, who meets Benoit Saint-Denis in the co-main event, Lone'er Kavanagh and Luke Riley also feature. The BBC will carry live text commentary from 03:00 BST.
