An uninsured driver has admitted causing the death of a woman who was struck while walking her two dogs on a pedestrian crossing in north London. Sedor Olmez, now 20 but 17 at the time of the crash, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to causing death by dangerous driving and to causing death while uninsured, following the killing of Laura Sone-Demetrious, 28, on the A10 Great Cambridge Road in Enfield on 9 January 2024. Both Ms Sone-Demetrious's dogs also died in the collision.

Olmez had been driving a BMW 3 Series 330e and has no previous convictions; he was granted bail, disqualified from driving, and will be sentenced in early November, with the judge warning that guidelines point to a custodial sentence. Co-defendant Roderick Mirzakhanian, 31, also charged with causing death by dangerous driving, could not enter a plea because his lawyers had not yet been given access to prosecution case files, and his case was adjourned until 2 October. Ms Sone-Demetrious's family, who attended the hearing, have described her as a devoted mother and "caring young lady" who was deeply loved.
