Universal has added two more cast members to its upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic "Snoop," with Camron Jones set to play Tupac Shakur and Lauren London cast as Snoop's late mother, Beverly Tate. The film, directed by Craig Brewer, already features "Outer Banks" actor Jonathan Daviss as Snoop Dogg himself, and the growing cast underlines the scale of the project as the first release under Death Row Pictures' new deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios.

Myles Bullock will also appear as Dr. Dre, who signed Snoop and produced his chart-topping 1993 debut album "Doggystyle." Tupac and Snoop were labelmates and close friends until Shakur's death in 1996, while Tate, who died in 2021 aged 70, is credited with giving her son the "Snoopy" nickname that inspired his stage name. Snoop Dogg is producing alongside Brian Grazer and others, with Brewer directing from a rewrite of Joe Robert Cole's script; the film is due for release on 6 August 2027.
