The University of Wolverhampton is undergoing significant expansion, headlined by the planned opening of the Black Country Medical School in September 2027 in partnership with Aston University. In the meantime, the institution has launched a Walsall Health Hub for its large cohort of healthcare students, alongside new creative industries and digital facilities in Wolverhampton, backed by a £60m investment in digital and AI capabilities over five years. The university is also embedding professional placements into every undergraduate degree and has opened a new specialist architecture and built environment campus at Springfield.

The university stands out for recruiting a socially diverse student body, with high proportions of mature, ethnic minority and first-generation students. It spent more than £3.5m on bursaries, scholarships and hardship support in 2024-25, including £675,000 through the Dennis Turner Hardship Fund and a WLV Wallet Bursary offering all students up to £200 towards course materials. Accommodation pricing is simple, with two bands ranging from £3,811 to £6,318 depending on room type and tenancy length, and diagnostic assessments for learning differences more than doubled to 300 in 2024-25 after the university began fully funding them.
