URIAH HEEP’s MICK BOX Says Ongoing ‘Farewell’ Tour Is ‘More Of A Slowdown Rather Than An Absolute ‘Finish Finish”

Uriah Heep guitarist Mick Box has said the British progressive rock band's ongoing "Magician's Farewell" tour is best understood as a gradual slowdown rather than a definitive end, in a new interview with Metal Mayhem ROC. The tour was announced in September 2024 and began in early 2025, but Box explained that visiting all the territories the band normally tours will take two to three years, and that the group has no plans to stop performing altogether, including at festivals.

Box pointed to practical difficulties as the main driver behind winding things down, citing post-COVID disruption to flights and buses, and post-Brexit complications such as customs carnets, tax issues and sharply higher touring costs, which have made lengthy tours harder to sustain. Despite the slowdown, he said a follow-up to the band's 25th studio album, "Chaos & Colour" (released January 2023), remains firmly on the cards, and reflected that Uriah Heep's enduring sound and longevity owe much to producer Jay Ruston and the band's continued passion for playing and writing.
