Usher Goes Viral For Beckoning Doorman, Allegedly Using Lookalike At New Jersey Show
Usher has gone viral twice in quick succession during his joint stadium tour with Chris Brown, first for an odd interaction with a hotel doorman and then for allegedly using a lookalike during a New Jersey concert. The incidents add to a run of eyebrow-raising moments from the tour, following an earlier controversy in which Usher brought a reluctant fan on stage and then sent her away. While the doorman clip appears to be simple star behaviour, the "clone" claim reflects fans scrutinising concert footage rather than any admission from Usher himself.
In the first clip, Usher let a female companion open a hotel's glass door herself, then held the already-open door while beckoning a doorman over to hold it so he could walk through hands-free. Separately, after Usher and Chris Brown played the first of two MetLife Stadium shows on Friday 7 August, fans circulated footage – centred on his performance of "Caught Up" – claiming he did not look like himself and speculating he had sent out a body double. Usher dismissed the theory in the comments of a Power 105.1 Instagram post on Saturday, joking "AI ain't that advanced," and the tour's official Instagram account reposted his denial on Sunday.
