Valve reassures Team Fortress 2 players that it’s still working on the Mann vs Machine update it announced last year: ‘We promise we’re making progress’

Valve has broken its extended silence on the Team Fortress 2 Mann vs Machine update, which was announced last June alongside a community call for map and mission submissions. After providing a brief progress note in September, the developer fell quiet for ten months, leaving players in uncertainty about the project's status.

Valve attributed the delay to the overwhelming volume of community contributions, far exceeding their initial estimates for how many submissions they would receive. The company explained that reviewing, evaluating, and integrating this influx of user-created content has proven far more labour-intensive than originally projected. Valve pledged to continue work on the update whilst stopping short of providing a release timeline.

  • Valve confirmed it is still developing Team Fortress 2's Mann vs Machine cooperative update, originally announced in June 2025
  • The studio received substantially more community-submitted maps and missions than anticipated, significantly extending the development timeline
  • No release date provided; Valve apologised for the ten-month communication gap since their last progress report
