Valve has confirmed pricing and release details for its Steam Frame VR headset, which can run both flat and VR games locally as well as stream titles from a connected PC. The device starts at $1,059 for a 256GB model, with a 1TB version priced at $1,299, and every unit ships with a native port of Half-Life: Alyx included.

As with Valve's Steam Machine launch, buyers must join a waitlist and lottery system, with sign-ups open until 17 September at 10AM PT before winners are notified and given 72 hours to complete their purchase from 18 September. In the UK, prices are set at £889 and £1,089 respectively, while Valve is also selling optional extras including an ergonomic accessories kit (£59), a replacement parts kit (£49) and a USB-C charger (£29), plus a third-party £149 Arcturus Vision Camera that adds colour passthrough and spatial video recording via the headset's nose bridge port.
