A Las Vegas woman, 33-year-old Jiaying Chen, has been accused by prosecutors of marrying 14 men at the same time and using money obtained from them to fund a heavy gambling habit. Authorities allege she operated the scheme for years using a fake identity, telling her husbands she urgently needed cash for sick relatives in China, when in reality the funds were spent at the Wynn casino on the Las Vegas Strip. The case highlights an unusually elaborate long-running fraud that combined bigamy with financial deception.

According to prosecutors, Chen obtained 14 marriage certificates in Clark County from March 2019 onwards, using a fake ID under the name "Vicky Liang" for around seven years, and collectively persuaded her husbands to send her more than $100,000. Police said she lost over $300,000 gambling in the past year alone. She was first arrested in 2024 but was released on bond and evaded law enforcement until a joint sting by Las Vegas police and the Department of Homeland Security caught her on 4 June, after a tip that she planned to meet a man to discuss marriage. Her lawyer said she intends to plead guilty to one count each of bigamy and obtaining money under false pretences.
