## Summary

María Corina Machado has returned to Venezuela after nearly a year abroad, re-entering a political landscape reshaped by Nicolás Maduro’s removal from power by US forces. Her arrival may complicate relations between the opposition, the interim government and Washington as she presses for democratic elections.

Machado announced her return on social media but did not say where she was or how she entered the country. Opposition leader Edmundo González confirmed she had arrived and said he would join her soon. Acting President Delcy Rodríguez, a former Maduro ally backed by the Trump administration, remains in power, with no election scheduled; Machado spent much of 2025 in hiding before leaving to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
