## Key points

- Makoto Yukimura says season three is not in progress.
- Kodansha and MAPPA have made no official announcement.
- The anime’s future and timing remain uncertain.

## Summary

Vinland Saga creator Makoto Yukimura says the anime’s third season is not currently in progress, leaving its future uncertain. His reply to a fan’s question is the clearest update so far, though neither publisher Kodansha nor animation studio MAPPA has made an official announcement.

The anime’s second season aired in 2023 and ended with Thorfinn resolving to seek Vinland, hoping to build a life free from war. The series is backed by a production committee comprising Twin Engine, Kodansha, Production I.G. and MAPPA, a structure that can make decisions and progress more complicated; no release date or confirmation of a third season has been given.
