A new album brings together three previously unrecorded works by the late Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho, who died in 2023, performed by soprano Anu Komsi, organist Marzi Nyman and the BBC Symphony Orchestra under fellow Finn Sakari Oramo. Spanning four decades of her career, the pieces showcase Saariaho's distinctive musical voice and offer listeners a first chance to hear this previously unreleased material, cementing her posthumous legacy.

The centrepiece is Vista (2019), a tone poem inspired by a drive along Interstate 5 to San Diego, split into the atmospheric "Horizons" and the more turbulent "Targets", performed with precision by Oramo's orchestra. Also featured are the Saarikoski Songs, orchestrated in 2021 and setting five poems by Pentti Saarikoski that reflect on humanity's impact on nature, sung by longtime collaborator Komsi, and the 1981 Three Preludes for soprano and organ, Saariaho's own instrument, in which Nyman partners Komsi with skill.
