Wade wins first World Series title in Australia
England’s James Wade won his first World Series of Darts title by beating Australian qualifier Brody Klinge 8-5 in the Australian Darts Masters final in Wollongong. The victory ends Wade’s wait for a World Series crown after two previous final defeats and adds another achievement to the 43-year-old’s successful career.
Wade, a 10-time PDC major winner, averaged 101.62 and recovered after Klinge cut a 6-2 deficit to 6-5, eventually finishing with a 60 checkout. Klinge, ranked number one by the Australian Darts Association, reached the final after defeating Ross Smith, Gian van Veen and Jonny Clayton, becoming only the second qualifier to do so; the World Series Finals take place in Amsterdam from 17 to 20 September.
