Brooklyn band wakelee have announced a new album, "under construction forever," due out 9 October on Wax Bodega, alongside the release of lead single "Joyce Kilmer Service Area." The announcement matters for fans of pop-punk-adjacent emo, as the track blends anthemic, catchy songwriting with angsty energy, drawing comparisons to acts like Hot Mulligan, PUP and Jimmy Eat World.

The 11-track album was produced with additional input from Hot Mulligan guitarist Chris Freeman and Zach Aumueller, and wakelee will tour alongside Hot Mulligan this autumn. The accompanying music video for "Joyce Kilmer Service Area" was directed by Gabe Drechsler, and the album is available for pre-order ahead of its release date.
