War Child U.K. Kicks Off Secret 7″ Record Auction, Featuring Tracks From John Lennon, the Last Dinner Party, Glass Animals and More

Variety ·

War Child U.K. has launched the 10th edition of its Secret 7″ record auction, offering 700 vinyl sleeves designed by well-known artists around mystery tracks from musicians including John Lennon, the Last Dinner Party and Glass Animals. Neither the song nor the sleeve's designer is revealed until a winning bidder receives their record, adding an element of surprise to a fundraising effort that supports the charity's mental health, aid, education and protection work for children affected by conflict worldwide.

The tracks up for auction include Lennon's "Out the Blue", the Last Dinner Party's "Let's Do It Again!", Gabrielle's "Out of Reach" and Bastille's "Hope for the Future", among others. Sleeve designers include ceramist Clare Twomey MBE, Berlin Wall muralist Thierry Noir, and former Suede member Justine Frischmann. The sleeves are being exhibited at London's 180 Studios until 30 August, while the online auction runs until 2 September, with War Child's Charlotte Nimmo saying the campaign highlights the role of creativity in driving positive change.
