Green Day played an unannounced 16-song set at the Los Angeles afterparty for the premiere of their new comedy film, ‘Nimrods’, on 12 August. The performance highlighted the band’s early catalogue and coincided with the cinema release of a film they produced and appear in, extending the group’s promotion beyond a conventional premiere.

Performing as a trio without their usual touring musicians, the band opened with ‘Going To Pasalacqua’ and played rarities including ‘Only Of You’, its first live performance since 2017. ‘Nimrods’, previously titled ‘New Years Rev’, follows fictional Kansas City punk band Analog Dogs after Green Day apparently offer them a support slot; it stars Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman and Ryan Foust, with Green Day appearing as themselves.
