## Key points

- Jon Ossoff won re-election in Georgia.
- He defeated Republican Mike Collins.
- The Associated Press called the race at 7:55 p.m. EST.

## Summary

Democrat Jon Ossoff won re-election to the US Senate in Georgia, defeating Republican Mike Collins. His victory matters to Democrats’ efforts to gain control of the Senate, as Ossoff was the only Democratic senator seeking re-election in a state Donald Trump won in 2024.

Ossoff was seen as vulnerable early in the 2026 election cycle, but he raised far more money than Collins and campaigned aggressively, drawing national attention for his criticism of Trump. Collins, a two-term congressman, secured Trump’s endorsement during a lengthy Republican primary. The Associated Press called the race at 7:55 p.m. EST.
