Newly released body camera footage from Anne Arundel County, Maryland, shows police shooting a carjacking suspect after she drove her vehicle towards officers, striking one of them along with two patrol cars and another car. The incident began on 7 May at around 9pm when officers responded to a hit-and-run report and discovered that a woman had crashed into another vehicle before forcibly taking a car belonging to a relative who had come to help her.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Jasmin L. Cooper, was later found inside the stolen vehicle, where officers surrounded her with weapons drawn, ordering her to switch off the engine and get out. She instead sped off, driving towards the officers before fleeing and crashing again, then attempting to break into another occupied car before being apprehended. Cooper was shot and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, as was the officer she struck; she now faces charges including carjacking, attempted carjacking, reckless endangerment and assault.
