## Key points

- Shohei Ohtani won an ESPY award for best single-game performance after hitting three home runs and recording ten strikeouts in an MLB playoff game
- The Los Angeles Dodgers star will miss the 2026 All-Star Game due to ongoing knee irritation

## Summary

Shohei Ohtani received recognition at Wednesday's ESPY Awards for an exceptional postseason performance, specifically his Game 4 display in the NLDS where he contributed both offensively and on the mound. The dual achievement, combining three home runs with ten strikeouts in a single playoff contest, was described as a historically significant athletic accomplishment.

Despite the accolade, Ohtani faces a setback in his season as the Dodgers confirmed he will be unavailable for the upcoming All-Star Game. His absence stems from persistent knee problems that have limited his availability during the 2026 campaign.
