“We are really disappointed.” Satanic doo-wop duo Twin Temple removed from country tour dates after headliner realises they’re Satanic
Satanic doo-wop duo Twin Temple say they were removed at the last minute from two of country musician Charley Crockett's forthcoming shows because of their Satanic imagery. The Los Angeles husband-and-wife pair, Zachary and Alexandra James, announced the news via social media on Wednesday 8 July, expressing disappointment and apologising to fans who had planned to see them; they framed the removal as a matter of artistic freedom.
The affected dates were Crockett's gigs in Troutdale, Oregon, and Paso Robles, California, on 14 and 18 July. Formed in 2017, Twin Temple blend 1950s and 60s rock'n'roll and pop with subversive Satanic themes, finding their strongest following in the metal community, and have released three albums since their 2019 debut, most recently 2023's God Is Dead plus an April cover of the Rolling Stones' Paint It Black. Crockett, one of country's most prolific artists with 17 studio albums since 2015, recently released Clovis, which was pulled from streaming amid a legal dispute with Island before being re-released via Atlantic.
