Canadian progressive rock band Mystery's founder, guitarist and producer Michel St-Père has spoken about how the group moved on after losing singer Benoit David, who left in 2013 following a turbulent few years that included a stint fronting Yes. St-Père revealed the band initially avoided announcing David's departure because they hoped he might return, only to eventually accept they needed to find a replacement, a process he described as very disappointing.

The interview coincided with the release of Mystery's ninth studio album, Redemption, in 2023, their third with current vocalist Jean Pageau. St-Père said the album exceeded his expectations, with strong pre-sales and positive reviews despite being released amid ongoing global disruption, and noted fans had remained loyal during the band's four-year gap between records.
