Southern Brave beat Welsh Fire by eight runs in their opening match of the women's Hundred, after Welsh Fire suffered a dramatic late collapse while chasing. Having looked well placed in the run chase, Fire fell apart in the closing stages, handing Brave a winning start to the campaign and leaving Fire with work to do to recover momentum in the tournament.
Welsh Fire were 109-3 and in a strong position before losing five wickets for just six runs, slumping to 118-8 as the innings unravelled. That collapse proved decisive, with Southern Brave holding on to secure the eight-run victory in the tightly contested encounter.
