What To Expect For ‘Heated Rivalry’ Season 2: Everything We Know So Far
Deadline reports that the second season of Heated Rivalry is being developed, but viewers are likely to face a lengthy wait, with a spring 2027 release—possibly April—currently targeted. The series became an unexpected hit after its first season arrived on HBO Max in November 2025, and the new instalment will continue the central relationship between hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov.
Production has not yet begun; creator Jacob Tierney said filming should start in August after he completes the scripts. Season 2 will adapt Rachel Reid’s The Long Game, set after Shane and Ilya have secretly been together for 10 years, as Ilya wants to make their relationship public while Shane fears the consequences for his career. Tierney has suggested the book may be split into two parts and said the new season will take a more emotionally serious approach, though it will retain romance and sexual content.
