## Key points

- The quest starts early but can only be completed later.
- Follow map icons and ask characters about the weeping.
- Complete “Illusory Pipa” before entering the mountain.

## Summary

The “Whence the Weeping” side quest in Phantom Blade Zero begins near the start of the game, but its vague objective cannot be completed straight away. Players must advance through the main campaign and follow quest markers and dialogue about the weeping; tracking the sound itself does not move the quest forward. The source is reached much later, making the quest a longer journey than its early start suggests.

The steps lead through the Crimson Forest and Village of Lu, then towards Meigu Lake and the Mountain of Imprisonment. Progress requires defeating area bosses, including the Flame, the Mask-Bound Lion Dance Grandmaster, and using a repaired Flaming Mane phantom edge to clear a root-blocked path. Players also need to complete the “Illusory Pipa” side quest to disperse the mist at Weeping Mistgate; the final step is defeating Huangxing, the Kunlun Ren.
