## Summary

Melania Trump is due to host Russian and Ukrainian representatives at the White House on 5 November, according to a statement from the White House. The meeting is presented as a rare opportunity for representatives of the two countries, which remain at war, to meet, though it is not yet known who will attend.

The event is scheduled for the same day as Trump is due to speak about the humanitarian mission in Oleshky, in Ukraine’s occupied Kherson region. A temporary halt in hostilities from 27 October to 1 November enabled civilians to leave the city, but the number who did so is unknown; Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he had no information about the proposed meeting.
