Charlie Kirk's parents, Robert and Kathryn Kirk, appeared in court in Provo, Utah, on Monday to confront Tyler Robinson, 23, the man accused of murdering their son, the conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder. The appearance is significant because the rarely-seen parents have largely stayed out of public view since Kirk's death, and the hearings will determine whether there is sufficient evidence for Robinson's murder trial to proceed.

The Kirks arrived arm-in-arm, with Robert — a prominent architect involved in building New York's Trump Tower — smiling at supporters, while Kathryn, a former mental health counsellor, wore dark sunglasses. They are due to be joined each day by Kirk's widow, Erika, who has taken over leadership of Turning Point USA, throughout the week-long pre-trial hearings. Kirk was shot dead in front of thousands at Utah Valley University on 10 September 2025. During Monday's session, the family left the courtroom as prosecutors presented footage of the shooting, which Judge Tony Graf — seen flinching while watching — barred others from viewing out of respect for Kirk's loved ones.
