## Key points

- No hard evidence links the threats to Russia or Iran.
- Most warnings prompted diversions or other security responses.
- Investigators are seeking reliable leads on who sent them.

## Summary

Fresh coverage still reports that no hard evidence links the coordinated false bomb threats to Russia, Iran or groups they control. The threats disrupted European air travel, with planes diverted and Italian fighter jets scrambled, and authorities say future warnings must still be treated seriously.

An email to Rome airport authorities claimed to come from “Fighters of the Male State”, a name associated with a banned Russian ultra-right group that retains an online following. It could have been sent by someone impersonating the group, and investigators need verifiable leads to establish who was behind the threats and why.
