## Summary

Tenerife forward Jesus de Miguel died in hospital on Tuesday after suffering a cardiac arrest following a collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono during a La Liga 2 match. Owono was sent off for the challenge, which has been widely criticised as reckless, and police are reported to have opened an investigation.

Owono, 25, was born in Equatorial Guinea and moved to Spain as a child. He came through Alaves’ youth system, made his first-team debut in 2022 and joined Andorra permanently in August after a loan spell, during which he kept six clean sheets in 20 league games. He has represented Equatorial Guinea 46 times; the article reports no decision on whether he will face further punishment.
