## Key points

- Perri Lister sang the haunting backing vocals.
- ‘Eyes Without a Face’ reached number four in the US.
- Her voice deepens the song’s melancholy mood.

## Summary

Perri Lister sang the female backing vocals on Billy Idol’s 1984 hit ‘Eyes Without a Face’. Her ethereal delivery contrasts with Idol’s detached lead vocal, helping create the song’s haunting, melancholy atmosphere.

The track appeared on Idol’s second album, *Rebel Yell*, and reached number four on the US Billboard chart. Lister was a dancer and singer who had provided backing vocals for other acts; she and Idol were also a high-profile couple, a fact the article connects to the song’s themes of infidelity and emotional distance.
