Who the Heck is the Amazing Venom, and Why Is He Getting His Own Marvel Series?

IGN · 3 hours ago

Marvel is launching The Amazing Venom, a spin-off miniseries during its Queen in Black crossover, which centres on a conflict between Hela and Knull. The series promotes Spider-Man villain Fred Myers, formerly Boomerang, into a Venom-like hero after he bonds with a symbiote called Passenger, signalling a major change to the Spider-Man and symbiote-related comic landscape.

Writer Jordan Morris says the comic will retain Boomerang’s comic, low-level-criminal appeal while exploring whether Fred can overcome his self-doubt and destructive habits. Now equipped with symbiote powers and a Spider-Man-inspired costume, Fred must choose between returning to familiar street crime or attempting to become a more ambitious and better person.

  • Boomerang becomes the new Amazing Venom.
  • The series launches during Queen in Black.
  • Fred must decide whether to use his powers for good.
