Whoopi Goldberg, Jenifer Lewis, Vanessa Williams and Vivica A. Fox have been confirmed to lead a new Netflix comedy, "Women Like Us," produced jointly by Barack and Michelle Obama's Higher Ground and Charles D. King's Macro Film Studios. This marks the first project pairing the two production companies and extends Netflix's ongoing relationship with Higher Ground, which has previously delivered titles including "Leave the World Behind," "American Symphony" and "Rustin."

The film will be directed by Tasha Smith from an original script by Ali Kinney, with additional writing by Tracy Oliver, and is set to begin filming in New York City this autumn. The story follows a recently widowed woman who is taken to the Hamptons by her lifelong best friends and sister on what should have been her 30th wedding anniversary, a weekend that becomes a reckoning with grief, marriage and enduring sisterhood.
