## Key points

- Thieriot left as two demanding series became hard to balance.
- Clay Spenser was killed in *SEAL Team* Season 6.
- *Fire Country* has 22 episodes per season; *SEAL Team* had 12.

## Summary

Max Thieriot left *SEAL Team* as his work on the series became difficult to balance with *Fire Country*, the drama he co-created and stars in. His departure led the show to kill off Clay Spenser in Season 6, ending a character arc that had been part of the series from the start.

Clay loses a leg and retires from active duty, then works to rebuild his family life with his wife Stella and son Ben. In his final episode, he intervenes to save a distressed veteran from suicide, but a security guard shoots him after finding him holding the veteran’s gun. Thieriot’s decision followed both shows being renewed, with *Fire Country* requiring 22 episodes a season compared with *SEAL Team*’s 12.
