- The cast and directors discuss tone, character and reconciliation.

## Summary

Writer-directors Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, alongside actors Alexander Skarsgård, Olivia Colman and Elizabeth Debicki, discuss pivotal scenes in their fantasy romance Wicker. Adapted from Ursula Wills’s short story, the film adds bawdy comedy and human detail to a fable about an ostracised fisherwoman who commissions a wicker husband, and explores how his devotion unsettles the village.

The filmmakers say the humour grew from imagining how the characters would behave, with clues already present in the source story. The interview also examines the film’s balance of comedy and fairytale, its treatment of the Tailor’s Wife, and the challenge of making the emotional reconciliation in the third act work. The supplied article text ends before the discussion’s full details are included.
