James Wehr, a 27-year-old car influencer and owner of South OC Cars and Coffee, one of the world's largest weekly car shows, was killed along with 22-year-old Alexis Kramer when his 2019 McLaren crashed in Irvine, California. The vehicle struck a tree at around 12:20 am on Saturday and split in half before catching fire, killing both occupants instantly. Wehr's widow, Emma, has now demanded a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, raising questions about potential contributory factors that have yet to be fully examined.

The crash occurred on a section of roadway covered in water, the source of which remains unidentified. Police investigators believe speed was a significant factor, with dashboard footage showing the McLaren accelerating rapidly from a traffic light before losing control. Wehr had been pulled over by police an hour earlier and given a warning. The second victim, Kramer, was a 22-year-old bartender and 2026 Hooters calendar girl whom Wehr had invited from Florida to California. Wehr's attorney has indicated they are examining the vehicle's crashworthiness and safety systems, as well as investigating responsibility for the water on the roadway.
