BBC Sport · 2 weeks ago

Wigan Warriors extended their unbeaten start to the 2026 Women's Super League season with a comprehensive 44-6 victory over rivals St Helens in the opening match of the competition's new "Super Four" format. The result marked a fifth consecutive win for Wigan over Saints in the past year, reinforcing their status as the team to beat in the league, while St Helens struggled at home and lost full-back Liv Leach to injury during the game.

Wigan scored nine tries at the BrewDog Stadium, with Ellise Derbyshire and Eva Hunter both crossing twice, and further tries from Anna Davies, Molly Jones, Remi Wilton, Jenna Foubister and Mary Coleman. St Helens' only response came from Luci McColm just before half-time. The match was the first under the new Super Four system, which splits the top four teams into a round-robin section with home-and-away fixtures, with the top side securing a direct Grand Final place and the second and third contesting a play-off.
