Will Forte Says Glowing Reviews for ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ “Make It Feel Like You’re Not Crazy,” Admits “I Felt Gaslit For a While”

The Hollywood Reporter · 17 hours ago

Will Forte said the positive response to Coyote vs. Acme has been validating after Warner Bros. Discovery shelved the film in 2023 for a tax write-off. Speaking at its Los Angeles premiere, he said the campaign by fans and the strong reviews made him feel “not crazy” after a period in which he felt the film’s value had been dismissed. The release matters because it represents a rare reversal for a completed studio film, driven partly by sustained public support.

Ketchup Entertainment acquired the film in March 2025 and scheduled it for a summer 2026 cinema release. The live-action and animation hybrid follows Wile E. Coyote suing Acme over its faulty products, with Forte as his lawyer and John Cena representing Acme; it also features Lana Condor, Eric Bauza and Martha Kelly. Director Dave Green and Cena also thanked fans, including a protester in a Coyote costume, while Green said he was not yet considering a sequel.

  • Fan pressure helped revive Coyote vs. Acme after its cancellation.
  • Will Forte says positive reviews have been deeply validating.
  • The Looney Tunes film opens in cinemas on Friday.
